IT Security Review

Service Description
The Centric Networks IT Security Review is a consultancy project with the objective of reviewing in detail the Client’s IT Security policies, procedures and infrastructure. Using our own in-house methodology (based on BS7799) which is honed by years of experience in securing Internet-facing services, we take a top-down approach to our review.

Who is it aimed at?
This service is designed for IT Managers, Security Managers or Network Managers in small to medium businesses (generally 50 to 500 users) who:-

  • Are planning to roll out broadband and/or wireless networks to home/ roving workers and are concerned that their existing security infrastructure is inadequate;
  • Want to plan and prioritise their IT Security expenditure for the coming year;
  • Need to demonstrate to external auditors that their company treats IT security seriously

What is the scope of work?
During the Security Review, we will examine the following areas and compare our findings with industry best practice:-

  • IT Policies and Procedures – we will check that the existing policies and procedures provide a suitable level of protection to the Client’s business.
  • IT Security Infrastructure – We will check that the Client has the means to protect themselves against the most common and likely security threats, that their systems are set-up with a level of security that suits their business, and that security threats can be detected and logged
  • Staff awareness – we will interview users to ensure that they understand their responsibilities

What are the deliverables?
The key deliverable is a summary Gap Analysis report outlining where the Client’s organisation security differs from accepted best practice, together with prioritised recommendations on how to resolve any high risk issues. This is presented to the customer in the form of a workshop.

What are the benefits to the Customer?
The key benefits are as follows:-

  • Heightened awareness within the business of IT security issues and the role all staff play in ensuring that sensitive data and client information remain secure
  • Understanding and potential resolution of security issues within the organisation that could be detrimental to your client base
  • Understanding of the legal responsibility of the Directors of the business in ensuring good security practice
  • Understanding of the REAL requirements of IT security within your business, i.e. what you actually require rather than what advertisers SAY you need to do.

How much does it cost?
The IT Security review is not a fixed price, fixed scope project. The price varies according to the size of the customer and the scope needs to be determined in a pre-sales meeting with the customer. The price will generally vary between £750 and £4,995.
